今回の動画ではチャンネルスタッフからの質問に答える形で両氏がトークを展開した。その中で、田宮氏は貴乃花氏と初対戦した際にまわしに驚かされたという話を明かした。
The two men first competed on the 12th day of the Kyushu tournament in 2000. Tamia was tied for the lead in the championship race with a 10-1 record until the day before, but he fell to a 9-2 record after losing to Takanohana by a hand throw, dropping him to two losses. He then won three consecutive matches starting on the 13th day, but narrowly missed out on the championship, which was won by Yokozuna Akebono with a 14-1 record.
This particular bout, which ultimately led to a V-loss, saw Tamiya state that "the first time I faced Takanohana, his mawashi was so stiff and thick, it was difficult even to touch." For Tamiya, who favored a right-sided grip, this meant his offensive power was unexpectedly diminished.
Wondering why, I later asked a maker of mawashi, who explained, "The weaving method is completely different, and it costs about twice as much as a regular one," revealing that the manufacturing process itself was distinct, not just the way it was tied. Furthermore, although it was mentioned that "Takanohana-san's (mawashi) are close to 1 million yen each," he had mawashi made with the same manufacturing method, not hesitating to bear the expense.
この話を受けたチャンネルスタッフは、まわしの締め方は固め、緩めのどちらがいいのか質問。田宮氏は「人によるんですよね。四つ相撲の人は（相手に力を出させないように）緩くしてる人が多くて、まわしをとられたくない人はカチカチにする」としつつ、「固いやつを水でいっぱいびちょびちょにするとさらにカチカチになる」という“小テク”の存在も明かしていた。
