Alcaraz pocketed a champion's cheque of $5 million (₹44 crore), according to tournament organisers. Runner-up Jannik Sinner earned half that amount, taking home $2.5 million (₹22 crore).

The two finalists continued their growing rivalry - having also faced off earlier in the Cincinnati Open final.

How much did the semi-finalists and quarter-finalists earn?

Novak Djokovic and Felix Auger-Aliassime, who bowed out in the semi-finals, each received $1.26 million (₹11 crore). The four losing quarterfinalists: Jiří Lehečka, Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti earned $660,000 (₹5.81 crore) apiece.

Players knocked out in the fourth round collected $400,000 (₹3.52 crore) while third-round exits such as Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul earned $237,000 (₹2 crore). Those who lost in the second round received $154,000 (₹1.35 crore) and even first-round participants left with $110,000 (₹0.96 crore).

The qualifying rounds also paid significantly with final-round losers getting $57,200 (₹50 lakhs) and first-round exits earning $27,500 (₹24 lakhs).

What's next for Alcaraz and Sinner?

Alcaraz will lead Spain in the Davis Cup before joining Team Europe at the Laver Cup. Sinner is expected to return to the China Open later in September.
