World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz and American star Taylor Fritz have been announced as the first two confirmed players for the ninth edition of the Laver Cup, set to return to London from September 25-27, 2026.

The two rivals, who played title-clinching matches against each other in the last two editions, will once again anchor their respective teams — Alcaraz for Team Europe and Fritz for Team World — on the court where Roger Federer famously concluded his career in 2022.

“To play at The O2 in London is going to be amazing,” Alcaraz said in a press release. “Having the chance to be in a team with players that normally I’m fighting against during the year is really unique and what makes me keep wanting to play Laver Cup every year."

Alcaraz made his Laver Cup debut in Berlin in 2024, where he immediately established himself as a dominant force. He set a new record for the most points contributed by a single player in one edition on his way to winning a singles rubber against Fritz to secure the title for Team Europe. In San Francisco in 2025, he again played a crucial role, though this time he suffered a loss to Fritz on the final day as Team World ultimately claimed the cup.

Fritz is a cornerstone of Team World, having competed in five editions starting with his debut in Geneva in 2019, where he notably shocked Dominic Thiem. He was instrumental in Team World's historic first-ever title win in London in 2022 and its successful defense in Vancouver in 2023.

“Laver Cup is such an exciting week for me,” said Fritz. “I love the team atmosphere, the energy you get playing these matches, when you’re playing for more than yourself is incredible. I’m excited to spend another week with Team World and we’ll be there with the
goal to win."

The stage is set for a full-circle moment in London, where Team World clinched their first title in 2022, only to see Alcaraz steal the trophy back for Europe in 2024, followed by Fritz’s revenge victory in 2025. With Yannick Noah (Team Europe) and Andre Agassi (Team World) at the helm, it will be a decisive battle for team supremacy at the venue that holds a special place in tennis lore.

All eyes will be set on the O2 come September 2026.
