What did CSK CEO say about Dhoni?

Speaking to Cricbuzz, the CSK chief said: "MS has told us that he will be available for the next season."

Dhoni has been with CSK for all but two seasons, when the franchise was suspended, 2016 and 2017. If he does turn up next season, it will be his 17th season for the franchise and his 19th overall in the competition, having been part of the league since its inception in 2008.

The legendary former India captain has featured in 248 matches for CSK, scoring 4,865 runs and leading the side to five titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023.

MS Dhoni's decorated IPL journey

The 44-year-old from Ranchi has been the face of IPL ever since its inception. He led India to the World T20 title in 2007, which was one of the key reasons for the birth of the IPL.

Dhoni has also been the flag bearer of the CSK franchise and has become an adopted son of Chennai. He has led the franchise to a record five IPL titles and two CLT20 titles, continuing his legacy from international cricket.

In a total of 272 games for the CSK franchise across IPL and CLT20, Dhoni has amassed over 5000 runs, in addition to his never-ending list of wicket-keeping records. He holds the dismissals as a wicket-keeper in the IPL and also accounts for the fastest stumping in the history of the game.

He was back at the helm as the Chennai skipper last year, post an injury to Ruturaj Gaikwad, the current CSK skipper, who was ruled out of the entire season.

Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2019 and has only played in the IPL ever since. Fans eagerly wait one whole year to get a glimpse of the great man. The love and respect that this boy from Ranchi has garnered is still unmatched by any other personality in Indian cricket.
