Why did the BCCI shift the IPL final from Kolkata to Ahmedabad?

The official press release by the BCCI stated the decision by the IPL governing council was taken while considering the monsoon coming up in June.

Earlier in the season, the Punjab Kings' away fixture at the Eden Gardens was also abandoned due to rain.

“The new venues for the Playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters,” an official BCCI release said.

Another match that has been rescheduled is the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's home game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad to the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow after the RCB vs KKR game was washed out without the toss.
