Which players should MI buy in the IPL 2025 auction?

Now that we know the Mumbai Indians' squad after Day 1 of the auction, let’s take a look at potential targets for MI to consider on Day 2:

1. Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar, with his solid off-spin bowling and more than decent batting skills, could offer MI balance in both departments at number 7. His increased prowess with the bat makes him a valuable addition for MI considering that they will look for an Indian spinner.

2. Marco Jansen

After having their Indian core sorted, Marco Jansen, a left-arm pacer, would offer MI an excellent option with the new ball, especially at Wankhede, where the conditions support swing initially. His lower-order batting ability further adds value to his all-round capabilities.

3. Gerald Coetzee

While Mumbai Indians released Coetzee for the auction, they should consider re-bidding for him in IPL 2025. He can be used as a solid death bowler, who utilises variations effectively given his high-pace bowling, which makes him a handy option in the back end.

4. Shahbaz Ahmed

A fine all rounder who could provide 4 overs of quality left-arm spin and hit some big blows late in the innings with the bat. He can also bat as a floater if and when the situation arrives.

5. Ben Duckett

Mumbai Indians missed out on getting any established wicketkeeper on Day 1 and Duckett could fit into that opener's role perfectly while keeping the wickets for them just like Ishan Kishan did for the last few years.

6. Jayant Yadav

Jayant Yadav is MI's tried and tested all-rounder option who has even won the title with them. He would be a good budget buy to strengthen the depth in the squad and can chip in with wickets and some runs whenever called for.

7. Anshul Kamboj

Mumbai Indians had Kamboj in their ranks last season where he also made his debut. He is one of the hottest players around the domestic all-rounder market due to his quality pace and good form.

The 23-year-old was a potential RTM option for them; however, they have already exercised that on Naman Dhir.

8. Kuldeep Sen

MI is known for their under the radar buys and Kuldeep Sen just fits the bill. Express pace Indian bowler who can ball in the powerplay and clock 150 while in rhythm. It would add great value and depth to their team.
