Bad news for fans in Chennai as they won't be able to enjoy all of Chennai Super Kings' Indian Premier League 2026 home matches at the iconic M.A Chidamabaram Stadium (Chepauk).
The five-time IPL champions are hoping to showcase a solid performance in the upcoming season after finishing rock bottom in IPL 2025.
The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side had a miserable outing in the last campaign as they won only four matches out of their 14 outings and finished in the 10th position with eight points.

Why CSK won't play all of their IPL 2026 home matches in Chennai?
According to reports, CSK won't be able to play all of the IPL 2026 home games in front of their fans at the Chepauk due to the upcoming Tamil Nadu state elections.
The state government will not be able to provide utmost security while the elections are on and as a result, CSK will be forced to move out of their home for at least the first part of the season.
However, there is no official announcement yet, either from the franchise, the IPL or the BCCI.

Where will CSK play their home matches in IPL 2026? Likely venues
CSK are yet formally announce their decision of moving out of Chepaul temporarily at the start of the season, however, if reports are to be believed, the management are considering playing some of their home games in Thiruvananthapuram and Ranchi.
The primary reason behind playing matches in those two venues is to capitalise on the popularity of two of their biggest superstars in the current squad, MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson.
While Dhoni hails from Ranchi, Jharkhan, Samson's home venue is Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. If CSK play their home games in these two cities, they are guaranteed to enjoy a massive local support due to the presence of their respective local heroes.
