In a sport that has seen its fair share of prodigies, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rise has still managed to stun the cricketing world. The Rajasthan Royals youngster announced himself with a blistering century in his debut IPL campaign in 2025.

He set new records and left veterans and fans in disbelief. His explosive knock -- featuring 11 sixes -- has already sparked debates about how Indian cricket should manage such rare talent.

Among those left awestruck is former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad -- who couldn’t hold back his praise in a recent exclusive interview with Revsportz.

What did MSK Prasad say on Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

For Prasad, the teenager’s extraordinary achievement wasn’t just rare -- it was historic.

"My first reaction is, this could be our eighth wonder of the world. It is actually surreal that a 14-year-old kid is hitting the best of the lot in the business. Including all the opposition bowlers or international bowlers. Smashing them around the park. Hitting 11 sixers. Getting a century, fastest century by an Indian. Second fastest century in IPL history. I think there are no words to express this unbelievable feat. I think this is probably the best thing that has ever happened in the history of the IPL," Prasad told Revsportz.

Vaibhav’s century was not just remarkable because of his age, but it was statistically stunning as well. According to Prasad, it was the fastest ever IPL century by an Indian and the second fastest overall in league history.

That is no small feat for a player who hasn’t even completed high school yet. His composure, confidence and raw hitting ability have taken both fans and experts by surprise.

But Prasad, while full of admiration, also issued a word of caution. He believes India must handle Vaibhav’s career with care.

Rushing him into the senior national setup or even India A, he warns, could do more harm than good.

"He should be properly groomed through a systematic process... He needs to be well-groomed under the mentorship of someone like VVS Laxman or Rahul Dravid," he added.

Instead of fast-tracking him, Prasad suggests at least a year or two in domestic cricket. This will allow the young batter to experience the ups and downs of the game and build a solid foundation for the long term.

For now, the cricketing world can marvel at Vaibhav Suryavanshi -- India’s newest sensation and, as Prasad calls him, possibly the “eighth wonder of the world.”
