The image of Samson and Gabriel has gone viral online and sparked massive speculation among fans about a potential move to RCB.
Why was Sanju Samson training with RCB’s throw-down specialist?
Before flying out for the five-match T20I series against Australia, which is starting from October 29 at Canberra’s Manuka Oval, Samson was putting in some intense practice sessions.
One such session featured RCB’s well-known throw-down specialist Gabriel, and fans were quick to connect the dots.
Reports from August 2025 claimed that Sanju Samson had formally asked Rajasthan Royals management to release or trade him ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
According to Cricbuzz, there were “several points of disagreement” between Samson and the RR setup, one of which involved the shocking release of England’s star batter Jos Buttler.

Samson even opened up emotionally during an interview before IPL 2025, saying that letting Buttler go was one of the toughest moments for him as captain.
With reports claiming that RR’s owner Manoj Badale had already reached out to other franchises regarding possible trade options for Samson, the recent training session with an RCB staff member has only added more fire to the speculation.

Could Sanju Samson really join RCB?
Although there is no official confirmation, the signs are certainly intriguing. RCB, who were crowned IPL 2025 champions, might be looking to strengthen their middle order and leadership group.
However, for now, the rumours remain unconfirmed and Samson’s focus would be on the upcoming India vs Australia T20I series where he will play as wicketkeeper-batsman.
