Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face a stern test of fixing their squad ahead of the mini-auctions for the 2026 season after finishing 10th with only 4 wins in 2025.

Ahead of the auctions, varying reports have also suggested that the franchise could possibly part ways with England all-rounder Sam Curran, who was bought back for his second stint for Chennai, having previously played for them in 2020 and 21 seasons.

New Zealand star Devon Conway was also among the list of players who could be released ahead of the new season.

However, going by the latest reports, a CSK official has discredited the rumours going around in the past few weeks and informed that the retentions are yet to be finalised by the decision-makers.

CSK official sheds light on rumoured Sam Curran release

According to Rev Sportz's report, quoting an unnamed CSK official, it has been brought to attention that the coach Stephan Fleming, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and former captain MS Dhoni will soon be having a meeting to decide the future of some players in the current squad.

The official also revealed that Dhoni has only recently returned from his trip to the United States of America, and the Super Kings are waiting for the IPL governing council to announce the deadline for submitting the retention list.

Additionally, citing N Srinivasan's return as the chairman, the official also said that the retention list shall go through him for approval before it is submitted to IPL.
