The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have had some of the most star-studded batting units in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years, but they have not translated to titles.

Whether it was down to them failing under pressure in big moments or the bowling unit costing the match for the teams, there are multiple factors in play.

RCB are known to post big scores batting first, and while Virat Kohli comes with a reputation as a master chaser, his IPL team have not had similar success, especially when chasing big targets over 200.

What happened the last time RCB chased 200 or more?

The latest event of RCB was made to chase a 200+ total against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23, 2025, when they had a chance to go top of the table.

After asking SRH to bat first in Lucknow, Ishan Kishan led the charge and got 94*(48) to get the Orange Army to 231 runs at the end of 20 overs. Romario Shepherd was RCB's best bowler with 2/14 in 2 overs.

During the run chase, despite a good start from the openers (Phil Salt 62 & Virat Kohli 43), they capitulated and got bundled out for 189 runs.

This loss worsened their record in 200+ run chases — losing 18th time while doing so.
