The new IPL season is just around the corner and all the teams have started planning and reshuffling their players for 2026.

For Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), last year didn’t go the way they wanted. The team is now trying to build a better and more settled squad this time. With the retention list deadline coming up fast, LSG management is busy figuring out who they should keep and who they will have to let go.

Lucknow had entered the previous season with high hopes after making some bold moves, including bringing in Rishabh Pant as captain. But things didn’t go as planned. The side ended up finishing seventh in the table, with only six wins in fourteen matches.

Among the foreign players, West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph’s future looks uncertain. The youngster had limited chances in IPL 2025 and couldn’t make a strong impact.

Similarly, the team might part ways with Abdul Samad, who couldn’t convert his starts into big innings.

Latest rumours suggest that LSG could release power-hitter David Miller before the auction to add more money to their wallet.

On Wednesday, legendary Indian spinner R Ashwin confirmed that MI have agreed on a trade deal with LSG to sign Shardul Thakur.
