Months after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League 2025 season, speculations emerged over Sanju Samson's future at Rajasthan Royals.

Multiple reports claimed that Samson is ready to part ways with RR ahead of the IPL 2026 season and wants to make a fresh start. It was further claimed that RR are likely to oblige the request of their star player and could send out their captain on a trade deal.

According to a TOI report last month, Samson was closely linked with a move to DC as the franchise from the national capital reportedly agreed to send Tristan Stubbs in a trade deal.

IPL 2026: CSK rekindle interest in Sanju Samson

After MoneyControl reported last week that CSK are no longer interested in Samson, a fresh report by Cricbuzz  now claims that the five-time champions have rekindled their interest in the India international and have re-established contact with RR over a possible trade-off.

CSK are likely to part ways with a top name and offer him to RR in exchange for Samson, although who it could be remains unclear.

Could Rajasthan Royals replace Samson as captain?

There’s also growing buzz around a potential captaincy change in Jaipur. Several reports have claimed that Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal are being looked at as future captaincy options.

Parag stepped in as skipper for a few matches last season when Samson was injured, while Jaiswal is being seen as a long-term leadership candidate. If Samson stays purely as a player, he could still play a crucial role with the bat — but the captaincy tag might move elsewhere.

For now, all eyes are on Manoj Badale’s final decision. Whatever happens, Sanju Samson’s name will dominate headlines until the official IPL 2026 retention list is released.
