The IPL trade window has suddenly become full of drama, with reports saying one of the biggest player swaps in the league’s history is almost done.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are said to be just a few steps away from finalising a blockbuster three-player deal that could reshape both squads before the IPL 2026 auction.

As per reports, the trade involving Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran is set to be completed within the next 48 hours. Samson is expected to join CSK, while Jadeja and Curran will move to RR.
How did the Sanju Samson to CSK trade story begin?
The saga reportedly began soon after IPL 2025 ended. Sanju Samson, who captained Rajasthan Royals for several years, was said to be unhappy with a few team decisions.
During the season, Samson also missed a few games due to injury, and on his return, he was pushed down to number three in the batting lineup while Riyan Parag continued as captain. That decision, according to insiders, caused tension between Samson and the management.
Once the season wrapped up, the Royals started exploring trade options for their skipper. After weeks of speculation, CSK emerged as the frontrunner. With MS Dhoni’s future uncertain, Chennai reportedly saw Samson as a long-term leader.

What is the current status of the trade deal between CSK and RR?
According to officials close to the developments, all three players have given their consent for the trade to proceed. The necessary paperwork has reportedly been signed.
However, since one of the players involved, Sam Curran, is an overseas cricketer, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) must issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before the trade can be made official.
Both franchises are said to be in constant touch with the BCCI and IPL Governing Council to complete the process before the November 15 retention deadline.
While the official confirmation is still awaited, insiders suggest the deal is practically done unless something unexpected arises in the final paperwork.
