Tottenham Hotspur are pushing until the final hours of the transfer window in their bid to sign Manchester City winger Savinho.

The Brazilian has become a top target for the North London club as they continue to evolve their attack.

Spurs introduced new signing Xavi Simons at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before their last game, a move designed to fill the void left by James Maddison, who faces a long spell out with an ACL injury.

Reportedly, North London club believe the arrival of Simons does not close the door on Savinho, who played alongside him at PSV Eindhoven.

Despite interest growing in recent days, Man City have resisted every approach. Pep Guardiola has reportedly blocked the 21-year-old's departure, a stance that has left Savinho unhappy about being denied the chance to move south.

Talks between the two clubs had progressed last week, but City reportedly made it clear they were under no pressure to sell.

That position has not weakened Tottenham’s pursuit. According to TBR Football, Savinho is “clearly keen” on making the switch to North London.

The winger has yet to play for City this season as he recovers from a pre-season injury, with his return only expected after the upcoming international break.

Savinho

Other Premier League sides are also looking to add a winger and have kept Savinho on their shortlist throughout the summer, though Spurs appear to be leading the chase.

Football Journalist Graeme Bailey said: “Spurs love Savinho and are not letting this go, am told to keep an eye on this – it is not dead in the water yet.”
