Tottenham Hotspur bagged a 3-0 win against Burnley in their opening Premier League match of the season on August 16.

Now, Spurs are set to make the trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City next in the league on August 22, with both clubs hoping to establish a winning streak.

However, along with the disadvantage of being the away team, Tottenham are also reportedly dealt a long-term injury blow ahead of the clash.

Spurs’ midfielder Dejan Kulusevski suffered a knee injury in May, missing five matches for the club as of yet, and a recent report about his fitness update brings forth bad news for the Swedish star and Tottenham.

How long is Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski expected to be sidelined?

Kulusevski underwent knee surgery in mid-May, and now, a report from the Guardian has suggested that the 25-year-old star is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the year.

Kulusevski’s lack of availability in the long run adds to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s worries as the Danish manager already has another of his midfielders, James Maddison, ruled out until early next year after sustaining a cruciate ligament tear.

Overall, Spurs currently have eight outstanding injuries in their squad.

Tottenham have also been a bit out of luck with regards to transfers, as several reports suggest that they missed on signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace and Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham have a close record in league games against Man City at the Etihad, where Spurs have bagged 12 victories and Pep Guardiola’s side have secured 11 wins in 28 matches.
