Tottenham Hotspur are in a rebuilding phase under manager Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites are coming off their worst Premier League outing, and they will be determined to bounce back.
While Frank has been tasked to bring new players to strengthen the roster, he would also be responsible for holding onto their existing star players.
In recent times, there have been a lot of talk around Cristian Romero's future in North London.
It is no secret that Atletico Madrid are chasing Romero this summer as they desperately need someone of his stature in their backline.
But as per the latest updates on the Telegraph, Spurs have refused to slash Romero's asking fee of over £60m ($80m).
Atletico Madrid continue to push Tottenham to reduce the pricetag of the 27-year-old, but the North London outfit have refused to budge.

Romero's current contract with Tottenham runs until 2027, and they are under no pressure to sell the Argentine centre-back this summer.
What did Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone say about Romero?
Romero has had his differences with Tottenham management in recent times. While Tottenham are open to cashing in on the 27-year-old, there are doubts whether Atletico can match their asking fee.

There's also a possibility of Frank trying to convince Romero to stay and be an integral part of his new project in North London.
Amidst all this, Atletico manager Diego Simeone publicly opened up on his admiration for Romero. “Do I want Cuti Romero? Of course. He’s a great player," he said.
Interestingly, Spurs are also looking to secure their future as they have reportedly shown interest in Genoa defender Koni De Winter.
The Belgian centre-back is highly-rated in Italy and even Frank believes that he could turn out to be a long-term asset for the club.
At this point, De Winter is being considered as a long-term fix for Romero if he eventually decides to move on.
