Real Madrid looked every bit like La Liga leaders, while Valencia looked just as much like relegation candidates as Los Blancos romped to a 4-0 victory on Saturday evening at the Bernabeu.
After receiving last year’s Pichichi trophy on the pitch before the match, Kylian Mbappe scored a brace to lead his side to victory and generate a significant gap atop this year’s Golden Boot leaders.
Jude Bellingham bagged Real Madrid’s third before halftime, while summer signing Alvaro Carreras rubber-stamped the victory in the final 10 minutes with a delicious first goal for his new club.
The only blemish for Madrid was another setback in a trying season for Vinicius Jr, who missed a penalty in the first half, confusingly taking the spot-kick himself while his teammate Mbappe was sitting on a hat-trick. There will also be slight concern for Arda Guler, who appeared to twist his ankle in the first few minutes of the match, and while he gutted out the first half and picked up another assist, the in-form midfielder was withdrawn at halftime.
The victory sees Madrid move seven points clear at the top of the table, with third-placed Barcelona still to play on Sunday.

Real Madrid vs. Valencia live updates, highlights from La Liga
FULLTIME: Real Madrid 4-0 Valencia
A near-perfect evening for Real Madrid as they go seven points clear of Villarreal at the top of the La Liga table! This one comes exactly as Xabi Alonso would have drawn it up, having taken a significant lead early on before shutting it down across the final 45 minutes.
Kylian Mbappe gets two more goals, althought he could have had a brace had Vinicius Jr. Not taken the second penalty and seen it saved.
88th min: Endrick draws a yellow card for recent substitute Javi Guerra as he rounds the Valencia defender down the right flank, forcing him to drag the young Real Madrid forward back by the shoulder.
82nd min: GOAL! REAL MADRID! ALVARO CARRERAS HAS JUST SCORED A STUNNER! His first goal for Real Madrid!
As a drab second half nears a close, Carreras just pulverizes the ball with the outside of his foot from an absurdly tight angle and picks out the corner! How was there room for that shot???? Even he seems surprised it went in!

79th min: Vinicius Jr. Comes off, with little to no reaction this time, having learned his lesson from El Clasico. Rodrygo enters for the final 10 minutes. Also exiting is Kylian Mbappe, without having converted his hat-trick, replaced by Endrick for his first La Liga minutes of the season.
76th min: Oh look, a shot! That's new. Eduardo Camavinga blazes one miles over the crossbar from a long distance out. No change in the general flow of the game.
67th min: Control-ball from Xabi Alonso can be reeeeeeally drab. This second half has been brutal. On comes Raul Asencio for Madrid as they continue to shore things up, replacing Dean Huijsen. Still no Trent Alexander-Arnold for Madrid thus far.
55th min: Very little has happened in this second half so far. There is a triple change for Valencia as they look to get something from this otherwise putrid game. Entering are Eray Comert, Jesus Vazquez, and the Real Madrid killer Hugo Duro.
2nd half kickoff: Valencia make a change as the second half gets under way, with Lucas Beltran withdrawn and an additional midfielder in Andre Almeida brought on.
Real Madrid have also made a pair of alterations at the break. Arda Guler has been brought off, which you'd expect to have to do with his ankle injury, protecting the Turkish midfielder thanks to the 3-0 lead, while the booked Aurelien Tchouameni has also exited. In their places in midfield come Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga.
HALFTIME: Real Madrid 3-0 Valencia
That was complete and utter dominance from Real Madrid in the opening half!
The only real talking point other than the delicious 45 minutes of football is Vinicius Jr. Taking the second penalty and having it saved, with his teammate Kylian Mbappe sitting patiently on a hat-trick. You'd still expect the Frenchman to eventually get a third if things continue like this though!
Valencia look well and truly beaten, being cut open repeatedly at the back while offering absolutely nothing in the other direction.
45+4 min: Chance, Real Madrid! Vinicius Jr. Looks to have room to shoot, but can't pull the trigger before being closed down. Instead of shooting into the forest, the Brazilian smartly pulls it back for a charging Arda Guler in lots of space, but the Turkish midfielder's first-time effort is very tame and straight into the goalkeeper's arms!
44th min: GOAL! REAL MADRID! The joy for Valencia after the penalty save is short-lived, as Jude Bellingham has a third for Real Madrid!
The England star gets on the ball on the top-left corner of the penalty area and cuts in on his right, before unleashing a powerful effort that's perfectly slotted past the goalkeeper and inside the far post!
43rd min: PENALTY, Real Madrid! The referee doesn't need VAR this time around as he points to the spot with a chance for Real Madrid to go three goals up! Kylian Mbappe feeds Vinicius Jr. Through on goal vertically, and the goalkeeper comes out to dispossess the Brazilian cleanly. The ball falls to Alvaro Carreras on the edge of the 18-yard box where he too cuts vertically, and Thierry Correia obliges with a clear clattering foul.
Stepping up to take the penalty is...not the man on a hat-trick, Mbappe, but instead Vinicius Jr., whose effort is...SAVED!!! AND THEN THE FOLLOW-UP BY ARDA GULER IS ALSO SAVED! What an effort by Julen Agirrezabala!
36th min: Aurelien Tchouameni is the first player booked in this match as he topples Lucas Beltran from behind. There's no malice or venom in the challenge, but it stops a promising counter-attack so he's shown the caution.
31st min: GOAL! REAL MADRID! MBAPPE HAS A SECOND, FROM GULER! It's all too easy for the league leaders, as the Turkey international receives a vertical feed and chips it from out wide on the left, looping the ball to Mbappe who awkwardly but effectively lifts his left leg into the air to redirect the pass into the net.

26th min: Arda Guler looks to be fine after his early ankle injury, as he feeds a delicious ball through the legs of his defender for Jude Bellingham clear to the end line, where he sends a cutback to the top of the six-yard box but there's nobody to meet it for a finish.
Guler really is having a sensational season!
16th min: PENALTY, REAL MADRID! As Real Madrid take a corner, two Valencia defenders are fully bear-hugging Real Madrid attackers! Both Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe are football tackled by their marks, with arms fully wrapped around their waist!
Initially there is no call from the referee, and the video review has an EXTREMELY long look at this before recommending a review. Somehow, the review is for a handball on the header by Eder Militao, which is quite silly, but it has been given! In the end, it's not for what it should be, but it's deserving nonetheless!
Stepping up is the talisman Kylian Mbappe, and...GOAL! REAL MADRID! He slots home a cool penalty by sending Julien Agirrezabala the wrong way!

— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) November 1, 2025
10th min: Chance, Real Madrid! Vinicius Jr. Is played in down the left, and his tight-angle shot is saved well by Julen Agirrezabala at his near post!
5th min: Guler does press on for now, and he plays a wonderful pass to Kylian Mbappe down the left edge of the six-yard box, but his tight-angle strike flashes well over the crossbar off a deflection.
2nd min: There's a real problem here for Arda Guler who is down receiving treatment. Replays show Turkey international has twisted his ankle landing awkwardly on an aerial challenge. It looks a nasty one, and would be a blow for Real Madrid to see an in-form player go off so early in the match.
If he tries to continue, he will be watched closely. Seeing that replay, it's hard to imagine he can play on effectively at full strength.
Kickoff: They're under way at the Bernabeu! Can Los Blancos hold serve against a relegation candidate and extend their lead to put pressure on Barcelona? Or will they slip up to a lower-tier opponent and open the title race wide open again?
Real Madrid vs. Valencia: Pre-match commentary, analysis, more
15 mins to kickoff: Amidst his current off-field gripe with Xabi Alonso and the club, the Bernabeu has shown its vociferous support for Vinicius Jr. When his name is read out as part of the Real Madrid lineups!

30 mins to kickoff: Kylian Mbappe has been exceptional to begin the season, as Xabi Alonso's system has looked to maximise the French superstar. He leads La Liga with 11 goals through 10 games, as nobody else in the offensively challenged league has more than six.
Prior to today's match, Mbappe was presented his Pichichi trophy from last season, and called his teammates over to take a photo with him!

1 hour to kickoff: The Valencia starting lineup is now available. Duro, whose form against Real Madrid has been on the verge of record-setting, is not in the starting lineup. Instead, it is Arnaut Danjuma and Lucas Beltran who get the start up front.
1 hour 15 mins to kick: The Real Madrid lineup is in, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has not been able to work his way back into the XI just yet. Federico Valverde will continue at right-back, which allows Arda Guler to play in the middle alongside Aurelien Tchouameni. On the right wing is hard-working youngster Franco Mastantuono, while Vinicius Jr. Starts on the left in support of Kylian Mbappe.
1 hour 30 mins to kick: Valencia will hope to have history on their side tonight as they meet Real Madrid. 25-year-old striker Hugo Duro has scored in four straight league games against Los Blancos, and a goal tonight would make him the first player ever to do so in five consecutive La Liga matches.
1 hour 45 mins to kick: It will be interesting to see how Xabi Alonso deploys Arda Guler today. The Turkey international was immense at the No. 10 position with Jude Bellingham out, but with the England star now back healthy, Alonso has had to find room for both.
Guler was strong when moved back to the No. 8 position, but with Federico Valverde able to return there, Guler moved out wide against Barcelona, where he was less effective.
2 hours to kickoff: You'd think that with Real Madrid sitting atop La Liga by solid margin at this early stage, and their Champions League prospects looking strong, all would be calm in the Spanish capital. Yet that is far from the case.
Vinicius Jr. Saw his frustrations about playing time boil over on the pitch during El Clasico, and while he apologised for his insolence, there still seem to be tensions behind the scenes. We took a look at his usage by Xabi Alonso this season, and how that compares to other top wingers around the world, to see if his gripe is real or perceived. What we found is that Vini is simply a product of the evolution of modern football.

Real Madrid vs. Valencia lineups, team news
Xabi Alonso's biggest issues remain in defence with centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba still sidelined while club captain Dani Carvajal now faces an extended period out of action due to a knee problem.
It was believed that Trent Alexander-Arnold would return to the starting XI after passing fit, but he is a casualty of a lineup problem which Alonso has had to navigate on a weekly basis. With Jude Bellingham now fit, he's had to find ways of slotting in-form Arda Guler into the XI. The Turkey international is deployed in midfield here, forcing Federico Valverde to take the right-back spot while Trent remains out.
Backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is suspended after retrospectively receiving a red card from the bench during the post-Clasico scuffle last weekend.
Real Madrid starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Courtois (GK) — Valverde, Huijsen, Militao, Carreras — Guler, Tchouameni — Mastantuono, Bellingham, Vinicius — Mbappe.
Real Madrid subs: F. Gonzalez (GK), Mestre (GK), Asencio, Alexander-Arnold, Mendy, F. Garcia, Camavinga, Ceballos, B. Diaz, Rodrygo, Endrick, G. Garcia.
Valencia have a few injuries for manager Carlos Corberan to work around.
Leeds loanee Largie Ramazani is out with a muscle injury for a few more weeks, while defenders Mouctar Diakhaby and Dimitri Foulquier have hamstring injuries to deal with for a similar time frame.
New signing Filip Ugrinic who joined from Swiss side Young Boys has struggled to make an impact, and a knee injury hasn't helped the cause. Hugo Duro is on the verge of setting a La Liga record, having scored in four meetings with Real Madrid, but he does not start up front.
Valencia starting lineup (4-4-2): Agirrezabala (GK) — Correia, Tarrega, Copete, Gaya — Rioja, Santamaria, Pepelu, D. Lopez — Danjuma, Beltran.
Valencia subs: Rivero (GK), Dimitrievski (GK), Panach, Comert, J. Vazquez, Iranzo, Almeida, Guerra, Nunez, Raba, Otorbi, Duro.
