Real Madrid have made an impressive start to the 2025/26 campaign, currently standing on top of the La Liga table with 21 points after winning seven out of eight games.
Along with their form in the top flight under head coach Xabi Alonso, who took charge in June, Los Blancos have also extended their success to the Champions League, with victories in both matches so far.
Alonso's appointment came after Real Madrid decided to part ways with Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the 2024/25 season, where the Spanish giants only managed a second-place finish in the league while claiming no major trophies.
Despite the underwhelming run last term, Ancelotti left Santiago Bernabeu as the most successful Real Madrid coach, having won 15 trophies, including three Champions League titles and two La Liga titles.
Following his three-year tenure at Bayer Leverkusen, during which he led the German club to their first-ever Bundesliga title, Alonso returned to his former club, Real Madrid, in the managerial role and will be looking to win some silverware in his debut season.
Recently, Real Madrid talisman Kylian Mbappe was asked to draw a comparison between both coaches. The Frenchman pointed out the difference between them and told Movistar+,

"They're different, two generations of coaches who have crossed paths. Ancelotti is one of the best in history. When you arrive, you're happy to play for him; he's always close to the players," as per GOAL.
"Xabi wants to help a lot, but he's younger. He has more need and desire to prove himself with Real Madrid, to achieve things in his first big opportunity at the best club in the world. We're going to try to help him win as many titles as possible."
Mbappe also spoke about how he and the squad are gradually adapting to Alonso’s vision and tactics and added,
"It's an important year for Real Madrid and the national team. We're starting to understand what the manager wants from us, but we have to improve to get where we want to be."
What's next for Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid?
Mbappe has netted a total of 14 goals and provided two assists in 10 games across competitions for Real Madrid so far this season.
Following the October international break, Mbappe and Los Blancos will return to La Liga action with their match against Getafe on Sunday at Coliseum Stadium.
Real Madrid will then host Juventus at Santiago Bernabeu in their third Champions League match of the season on October 22.
