Sunderland seem intent on having as strong a squad as possible next season to ensure the club can avoid being sent straight back to the Championship.
Since securing promotion back to the Premier League a few months ago, The Black Cats have been very active in the transfer market, with 10 signings having been made so far.
After confirming the arrival of former West Ham United left-back Arthur Masuaku on a free transfer on Sunday (August 10), it was reported hours later that an 11th player would be making the switch to the Stadium of Light this summer.
Per Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland have agreed a £10m deal with Getafe to bring Omar Alderete to the club.
The Paraguayan, who operates predominantly as a centre-back but can also function as a left-back, will commit to a deal until 2029 upon completing his move to the newly promoted Premier League side.

Alderete featured for Getafe in 34 La Liga games last season, and his solid displays at the back meant he attracted interest from other Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

The 28-year-old was also linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this past January, however a move to North London for the Paraguayan never materialised.
The defender's impending transfer will see Sunderland's summer spending spree reach just shy of £150m.

Sunderland's current squad outlook
While Regis Le Bris has added many reinforcements to his Sunderland side this summer, a deal for a centre-back had not been done until the recent Alderete update.
Hence, the imminent arrival of the South American player should ease any concerns he may have over his Sunderland defence going into the Premier League season.
Alderete will follow players such as Granit Xhaka, Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Noah Sadiki Chemsdine Talbi, Reinildo and Enzo Le Fee in making a permanent move to The Black Cats in this transfer window.
There appears to now be a good blend of experience and young talent in Sunderland's squad off the back of the club's ambitious summer business.
Le Bris will hope this translates into strong displays on the pitch and his new arrivals can step up in crucial moments against Premier League opposition in the months ahead.
Sunderland fans will be keen to witness their beloved side perform better than promoted teams of the past and see the team not dragged into a relegation fight in the forthcoming season.
Le Briz will deploy his newest additions for the first time in the Premier League this coming Saturday (August 16), when his side begins their Premier League campaign against West Ham at home.
