Liverpool and Everton meet at Anfield in one of the most eagerly anticipated Merseyside derbies in years with both sides in fine form.

Arne Slot's men have started the season with four wins from four, all of which have come with late winners, and they repeated the trick in their opening Champions League game against Atletico Madrid. Alexander Isak made his debut in that game which is an ominous sign for the rest of the league.

Everton are unbeaten since the opening day loss at Leeds with Premier League Player of the Month Jack Grealish spearheading a strong start to the season for the Blues. They have only won once at Anfield this century and it came during Covid, but might fancy their chances of an upset.

The Sporting News has all the latest odds, tips and predictions ahead of this highly-anticipated Merseyside derby.

Liverpool vs. Everton prediction

This should be a thrilling derby clash especially with the renewed enthusiasm on the blue side of Merseyside. However, the Reds should have just enough quality to continue their 100% start and take bragging rights in the city.

The Sporting News' Score Prediction

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

As you can see with our prediction, we think the over 2.5 total goals bet on Parimatch has a really strong chance of coming off. Liverpool have an xG of 6.85 from four matches (Everton 6.24), while both sides are in the top 10 for shots per game (Liverpool 15 and Everton 12).

  • Liverpool are the current favourites to win the Premier League this season.
  • Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah rival Erling Haaland as the early favourites to win the golden boot this season.
  • Most of the favourite score picks for Liverpool vs. Everton are best price with Parimatch.

Liverpool vs. Everton team news

  • Curtis Jones is Liverpool's only injury absentee with the midfielder expected to be out for several more weeks.
  • Hugo Ekitike may get the nod up front with Isak working his way back up to full fitness, while Dominik Szoboszlai could start at right-back to combat Grealish.
  • Everton have defensive injuries with James Garner set to fill in again at left-back, this time against Salah.

Liverpool vs. Everton betting tips

Can Everton's grit hold up against Liverpool's firepower at Anfield? The numbers suggest the Reds should dominate, but derby day has a way of ripping up the script.

That said, with Liverpool boasting a flawless start and looking ruthless in front of goal, the smart money is on a home win paired with over 2.5 goals, a combo sitting at 1.99 with Parimatch.

Meanwhile, Alexander Isak could be in line for another start after getting his first real run in midweek. The record-breaking signing is priced at 2.05 with Dafabet to find the net anytime — and what better stage to break his duck than under the lights of a Merseyside derby?
