Liverpool suffer major blow as Bayern chief shuts down release clause rumours image

Bayern Munich have been in excellent form this season as they have won 11 straight games across competitions.

One of the primary contributors to this season's perfect start has to be Michael Olise, who has been one of the best signings for the Bavarians in the last few years.

The Frenchman has registered 10 goal contributions in 11 appearances being a primary creative force for Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich.

In Jamal Musiala's absence, it was a litmus test for Olise to step up and be the primary creative outlet for the Bundesliga champions and he until now he has done his job with aplomb.

The 23-year-old along with Harry Kane has been one of the primary reasons for Bayern Munich's splendid form in the 2025/26 season.

However, Olise has been linked with a Premier League return as several sources started sharing rumours of an apparently release clause present in his contract.

Therefore, Liverpool are reportedly eyeing the French winger as a long-term successor for Mohamed Salah. The reported presence of release clause in Olise's contract strengthened their case.

Apart from Liverpool, Manchester City are also interested in the 23-year-old as Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of the winger from his Crystal Palace days.

But both the Premier League clubs suffered a major blow as Bayern Munich sporting director Maximilian Eberl shared an important update surrounding Olise's contract.

What did Bayern chief Eberl say about Olise's release clause?

Bayern Munich signed Olise from Crystal Palace for €60m ($69.5m) transfer fee and considering his impact since joining the club looks like an absolute steal.

While there were rumours of the 23-year-old having a release clause attached to his current contract, Eberl has strongly denied such rumours.

"Michael has a contract with us until 2029 – without a release clause – and is on his way to becoming one of the world's best players," Eberl told in an interview with 11Freunde

Bayern Munich are desperate to hold on to the Frenchman for as long as possible as he has adapted to style of play with relative ease, contributing to 35 goals in 51 matches last season.

Overall, his technical ability, defense splitting passes, ball carrying skills coupled with his dribbling and versatility make him a worldclass player for club and country.

Bayern Munich have a generational talent in their hands and they are ready to do everything to hold onto him for as long as possible. Considering his contract expires in 2029 and there's no exit clause put the Bavarians in a strong position.

There were also reports of Bayern Munich planning to reward the Frenchman for his performances with a fresh contract offering more wages to fend off the interest from other clubs.

For now, Olise should be focusing on Bayern Munich's upcoming Champions League fixture against Club Brugge on Wednesday, October 22 as the German giants aim to extend their winning streak.
