England and Wales renew rivalries in an international friendly at Wembley with both sides on course for next summer's World Cup

The Three Lions enjoyed by their far best result and performance under Thomas Tuchel last time out, crushing Serbia 5-0 to near-guarantee their qualification with games to spare. The German has somewhat controversially stuck with much of the squad from September as a result.

Craig Bellamy's Dragons are locked in a three-way battle with Belgium and North Macedonia but crucially have both at home in the next month, with the Red Devils first up after this clash at Wembley.

Could they pull off a famous win in preparation for that or will England assert their dominance once again? The Sporting News brings you this betting preview complete with the latest tips and odds ahead of this classic clash.

England vs. Wales: Who Will Win?

Wales have not won in England since 1977 and it's hard to see that changing on Thursday night given the gulf in quality and depth of the sides, as well as their respective priorities.

Tuchel's side are as good as qualified so can take this game more seriously, while Bellamy will surely be looking ahead to crucial qualifying games.

England vs. Wales Team News

England Team News

  • As noted, Tuchel has stuck with September's squad in most part with Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish all left out.
  • Nico O'Reilly has been called up for the first time with Reece James out with injury but Djed Spence may get a chance at right back here.
  • Marcus Rashford has been in fine form for Barcelona and could start here. He also scored twice the last time the two countries met.

Wales Team News

  • Ethan Ampadu is back after a knee injury and the Leeds captain will slot back into the midfield.
  • David Brooks will also start with the Bournemouth winger in fine form.
  • With Belgium on Monday, Craig Bellamy may ring the changes in the second half here.

England vs. Wales Predicted Lineups

This is how we think these two sides will lineup on Thursday with Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka playing either side of Harry Kane. Morgan Rogers is a frontrunner to play in the number 10 role with both Bellingham and Foden left out of the squad and Cole Palmer sidelined with injury.

Betting Tips: England vs. Wales

Right now, there isn't a striker on the planet firing with more confidence than Harry Kane, and it’s difficult to picture him not making his mark against Wales, regardless of how many minutes Thomas Tuchel decides to give his captain.

That said, the odds on the England skipper to score anytime don't offer much value, so we're instead backing him to register at least 1.5 shots on target, available at 2.00 with Melbet.

As for the match itself, we're tipping England to secure a comfortable home victory over Wales. The Three Lions have been impressive under Tuchel's stewardship, winning six of their competitive fixtures so far. Their only blemish came in a friendly defeat to Senegal, a match that also produced the only three goals England have conceded under the German coach.

Wales, on the other hand, have been inconsistent, picking up just two wins from their last five outings while suffering defeats to both Belgium and Canada. This clash at Wembley is another massive challenge for Craig Bellamy's men, and, based on current form, one that looks likely to end in England's favour once again.
