Raphinha continued his prolific record against Real Madrid as he scored twice in Barcelona's 3-2 Supercopa de Espana win in Jeddah.

Barca remain in possession of all of Spain's domestic trophies and this result marks another body blow for Madrid boss Xabi Alonso, whose team must now resume La Liga from four points behind the reigning champions at the halfway stage.

Madrid twice battled back from behind during a crazy period of first-half stoppage time before Raphinha scored his seventh goal in this famous fixture and an eighth in his past seven appearances in all competitions.

Hansi Flick's side had to play out the closing minutes with 10 men after Frenkie de Jong was red-carded for a challenge on substitute Kylian Mbappe but the former Bayern Munich boss has now won eight of eight finals in his career and five of his six Clasico encounters.

Raphinha passed up a glorious chance to give Barca a deserved lead after the half hour but atoned swiftly when he arrowed an unerring shot beyond Thibaut Courtois.

In stark contrast, Raphinha's fellow Brazil international Vinicius Junior came into this match without a Madrid goal since October 4. He spurned a good early chance but conjured a phenomenal solo goal, nutmegging Jules Kounde and clipping a finish beyond Joan Garcia in the second minute of first-half stoppage time.

That launched a crazy period, with Robert Lewandowski dispatching a delicious outside-of-the-foot finish from Pedri's throughball before Gonzalo Garcia converted via the underside of the crossbar from a corner.

During the early stages of the second half, Madrid assumed the ascendancy as Vinicius continued to torment Kounde. When it mattered, though, Barca found an extra gear. Courtois made a reaction save at close quarters to deny Lamine Yamal before he was left helpless by a deflected Raphinha strike 17 minutes from time.

Fulltime: Barcelona retain their Supercopa de Espana!

The glory is Barcelona's. Another magnificent match between these two. Hansi Flick is now eight for eight in finals, which is a solid career record. Madrid gutsed their way through the first half to go in level and probably shaded the second, only for the irrepressible Raphina to have the final word.

90+7 mins: Substitutes Mbappe and Mastantuono combine to win a corner. Up comes Thibaut Courtois. The cross in towards the Belgium goalkeeper, the ball comes back in and Asencio heads into Garcia's gloves.

90+6 mins: Oh that was the chance!  Ball cut back into the Barca box, it falls invitingly to Carreras but the full-back shoots straight at Joan Garcia.

90+5 mins: Rashford storming forward, he's out on his own. Elects not to go towards the corner flag, probably due to the lack of support, and instead smashes a shot wide.

90+3 mins: Lamine Yamal makes way for Araujo. If Madrid do equalise I wouldn't fancy the collection of Barca players currently on the field in a penalty shootout.

90+2 mins; Five minutes of stoppage time signalled, by the way, but we'll play for longer as we've only just resumed from the De Jong incident. Ronald Araujo will come on to bolter the Barca defensive effort.

90 mins: RED CARD! FRENKIE DE JONG SENT OFF! 

Barca will have to see this out with 10 men after De Jong launches into an untidy challenge on Mbappe. He followed through with his studs, striking Mbappe just below the knee and that's what the referee has decided to punish.

87 mins: Rashford storms into the box and Madrid are scrambling but he runs the ball out of play. Meanwhile, I'm not sure Mbappe has touched the ball yet.

83 mins: Barca looking to get this ovr the finish line and there are two substitutions, with Gerard Martin and Marcus Rashford on for Erick Garcia and the would-be matchwinner Raphinha.

76 mins: After the cooling break, Mbappe replaces Gonzalo Garcia up front for Madrid. What have you got, Kylian?

73 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Raphinha!!!!

Who else in El Clasico? Raphinha's seventh Clasico goal comes with a touch of fortune as he swings with is right foot just inside the box and slips. The strike takes a deflection and flies high into the net.

71 mins: Lamine Yamal almost gives Barca the lead for a third time as he drills a cutback too close to Courtois. It's another fine save, albeit one he may not have known too much about.

68 mins: Arda Guler comes on to replace Valverde, with Vinicius taking the Madrid armband.

66 mins: Double change for Barca, with Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres on for Fermin and Lewandowski.

64 mins: Vinicius and Rodrygo double up down the Barca right, where Kounde is badly in need of some help. Garcia saves Rodrygo's eventual shot.

58 mins: Valverde and Eric Garcia both booked for their part in the silliness.

57 mins: Joan Garcia watches Rodrygo's inswinging delivery all the way and claims. He sets Barca away on a break that's ended by a Raul Asencio foul on Pedri. That's cynical and there's a yellow card, preceding a frank exchange of views from both sets of players and benches.

Good heavens. Time to catch a breath. Barcelona were 1-0 up heading into first-half stoppage time. They've since conceded two equalisers and the the game is all square at 2-2, after a game that was bubbling under erupted. This next 45 minutes (and more if required) could be a bit saucy.

WHAT AN ABSURD PERIOD OF STOPPAGE TIME! MADRID LEVEL AGAIN! Barcelona can't deal with the corner, Huijsen hits the bar via a fantastic leaping interception from Raphinha before Garcia, tumbling backwards under pressure, manages to finish via the underside of the crossbar.

Anything you can do... Pedri plays in Lewandowski, who takes a touch and then dispatches the bouncing ball beyond Courtois with aplomb. Woof!

Oh my, what a sensational goal. A Madrid equaliser out of nothing. Vinicius gets down the left, stands up Kounde and gets past him. On he goes into the box, shuffles past another couple of defenders and clips into the far corner. What a way to end his goal drought.

44 mins: Lamine Yamal shifts brilliantly past Carreras about 40 yards from goal, skips past another challenge and fires a ball into Lewandowski. The veteran striker has a heavy touch and the chance is gone.

40 mins: Courtois denies Fermin from close range. Corner. Lamine Yamal picks up the second ball and tries to beat Courtois at the near post. He turns behind. Boy, how Madrid need halftime.

He instantly makes amends! Raphinha has Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal for company but goes it alone, shifting the ball onto his left foot and arrowing a low shot beyond Courtois. That's seven goals in his past seven games and a sixth in El Clasico.

35 mins: Glorious first-time pass from Lamine Yamal to release Raphinha but the Brazil star fluffs his lines.

33 mins: Chances at either end, first as Gonzalo Garcia latches onto a raking ball over the top but shoots too close to his namesake Joan in the Barcelona goal. Then the Blaugrana surge forward and Fermin Lopez goes close.

29 mins: Madrid being penned back into their own penalty area but that means they have bodies back and Bellingham is able to draw a foul from Lamine Yamal before the action pauses for a cooling break.

27 mins: Patient build-up from Barcelona before Lamine Yamal bursts towards the byline inside the box. His cutback is cleared as far as Raphinha, whose rasping shot is beaten away by Courtois.

23 mins: Madrid still struggling for rhythm or any sustained possession. Still, they've been defensively solid enough to ensure Barca are yet to enjoy a clear-cut chance.
