Manchester United appear to be back in scouting mode.

With the January transfer window creeping closer, reports suggest the club has opened secret talks with AIK Fotboll over teenage striker Kevin Filling, one of Europe’s most talked-about young prospects.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are in “concrete negotiations” for the 16-year-old forward, who has already made his senior debut in Sweden’s top flight. Despite his age,

Filling has shown serious promise, scoring goals and showing composure well beyond his years. United, it seems, are ready to roll the dice early.

A quiet deal in the works for Man Utd?

Filling, born in Västerås to Senegalese parents, joined AIK’s youth setup last year and quickly rose through the ranks.

He’s already made multiple appearances for the first team and represented Sweden at U18 level. Not bad for someone who’s still doing high school homework.

Reports say AIK could allow him to leave as soon as January, with a fee of around €3 million on the table.

United aren’t alone in the chase — several Bundesliga clubs are reportedly sniffing around too — but the Premier League giants are believed to be leading the race.

Club recruitment director Christopher Vivell is said to be pushing the move. The German executive has made youth signings a key part of United’s rebuild since joining last year.

Under his watch, the club has already secured several highly rated youngsters, and Filling could be the next name on that growing list.

Future star or another big gamble?

While United fans might dream of another teenage breakout like Wayne Rooney or Alejandro Garnacho, insiders believe Filling would initially join the club’s U18 or U21 setup.

With Ruben Amorim’s squad chasing a top-four finish, it’s unlikely the Swedish striker would get senior minutes anytime soon.

Still, Manchester United’s approach shows a clear shift — investing not only in immediate results but in the next generation.

If the move happens, Filling could become the next young Red Devil hoping to make the Theater of Dreams his own stage.
