Man Utd makes 'club to club contact' as second bid prepared to complete another major signing image

Manchester United have moved a step closer to adding another big name to their attack. The club is back in direct talks with Brentford as they prepare a second bid for forward Bryan Mbeumo.

Their first offer — £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons — was turned down. But the chase is far from over.

United are keen to wrap this one up quickly. With Matheus Cunha already through the door, the club is now focused on bringing in Mbeumo as part of Ruben Amorim’s rebuild.

The new manager wants pace, power, and end product. And Mbeumo brings all three — plus 20 Premier League goals last season.

The Cameroonian forward is under contract until 2026, but Brentford have the option to extend it by a year. That puts them in a strong position to demand top dollars.

However, United know what they want, and Mbeumo wants United. That mutual interest could help get this deal over the line.

"Manchester United again in direct club to club contact with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo. Second proposal ready after £45m plus £10m rejected as United are ready to get closer to Cunha valuation." Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported.

“Mbeumo has been clear: he wants #MUFC”

Why Man Utd wants Bryan Mbeumo?

Sources close to the talks believe Brentford want around £60–65 million. A new bid in that range is expected to be United’s final one. If it’s accepted, Mbeumo would join Cunha in an exciting new attacking line.

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke added,

“I’m sure there’ll be a compromise met somewhere in the middle, probably, to get this deal done.”

The stats support the urgency. United scored just 44 goals in 38 league games last season — a number that wouldn’t even fly in park football.

Their top striker, Rasmus Hojlund, only managed four. In contrast, Cunha and Mbeumo combined for 35.

Old Trafford is crying out for goals — and fast. With big names like Rashford, Sancho, and Antony possibly on the way out, Mbeumo’s arrival could change the tone in the United dressing room.
