Fabrizio Romano reported the move will have a €6m loan fee, and there is a €44m buy option clause that will become mandatory if certain conditions are met.
Hojlund's depature comes after just 26 goals in 95 appearances since his arrival in 2023.
United also confirmed Harry Amass' loan deal to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.
Amass made seven first-team appearances for United this season, making his senior debut against Leicester City.
The young Englishman will hope to gain more first-team experience at Sheffield Wednesday, before potentially returning to United in January.
