Manchester City bagged an impressive 4-0 win in their opening match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2025/26 Premier League on August 16, at Molineux Stadium.

Erling Haaland netted a brace, along with Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki scoring one goal each in their respective debuts for Man City.

After the victory against Wolves, Man City head coach Pep Guardiola has delivered some more good news for the fans by providing an update on his future at the Etihad.

Earlier, Guardiola, who signed a contract extension valid until the summer of 2027 with Man City in November last year, had mentioned his intentions to ‘stop’ after his tenure at the club, and told GQ Spain,

"I know that after this stage with City I'm going to stop, that's for sure. It's decided, more than decided. I don't know how long I'll stop for, a year, two years, three years, five, ten, fifteen, I don't know. But I will leave after this spell with City because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body."

Now, Guardiola has hinted that he may extend his contract at Man City further by more years.

What did Pep Guardiola say about his future at Manchester City?

Man City made some significant signings this summer to strengthen their squad. Guardiola recently opened up about the team giving him ‘good vibes’ and hopes of a better run in the 2025/26 season, and told Men in Blazers,

"I have two more years, maybe I'll extend two more years. So the question is when I will stop in this year or in two years, or in four years, I will take a break. But now I feel fine, I would say. The team is giving me good vibes, starting from the [Club] World Cup in the United States. There we created something. I saw something that I liked, that I missed last season," as per Manchester Evening News.

"The training sessions, the body language, the details, arriving on time, the (running) backwards, how we defend throw-ins, stupid things that you realise the team is there. And that will help us to be, I think, more consistent than last season."

Guardiola was appointed Man City’s coach in 2016 following his three-year tenure at Bayern Munich. In his ongoing nine-year managerial stint at the English side, the Catalan has led his squad to win 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League title.

Given the success Guardiola has brought to Man City over the past seasons, Cityzens would be looking forward to his further extended stay at the Etihad.
