Manchester City have reached an agreement with Inter Milan to loan Manuel Akanji as the summer transfer window reaches its end.
Akanji, who arrived at the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has been linked with a move away from Man City throughout the summer. The defender reportedly attracted heavy interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham, followed by AC Milan.
However, Akanji reportedly rejected a possible move to AC Milan and is now set to join their archrivals Inter, as playing in the Champions League has been the 30-year-old’s key priority.
Akanji's current contract at Man City is valid until the summer of 2027.
What are the terms of Man City star Manuel Akanji's loan deal to Inter Milan?
Man City have agreed on a €2m loan fee and partial salary coverage to loan Akanji to Inter Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer expert further reported that the loan deal includes an option to buy for €15m (£13m/$17m), which would become an obligation for Inter Milan if Akanji features in at least 50% of their games and if they claim the Serie A title this season.
