Earlier this month, Jack Grealish was loaned to Everton from Manchester City for the entirety of the 2025/26 season.
Grealish received only seven Premier League starts last campaign after drastically falling behind in head coach Pep Guardiola‘s pecking order.
Ahead of Man City's last league match of the 2024/25, Guardiola spoke about Grealish and said,
"Of course Jack has to play. He's an unbelievable player that has to play every three days. It didn't happen this season and last season either. He needs to do it. With us or another place. It's a question for Jack, his agent and the club," as per ESPN.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a possible move to several clubs in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties about his future at the Etihad, prior to signing a loan deal with Everton.
Grealish made his debut by coming off the bench in Everton’s opening Premier League game of the season. The Englishman recorded two assists for the Toffees in their 2-0 win against Brighton in the top flight on Sunday.

After making his first goal contributions for Everton, Grealish has claimed that he ‘didn’t enjoy football’ in the last two years at Man City.
What did Man City loanee Jack Grealish say?
Grealish opened up about his experience in the last two seasons at Man City while speaking about his loan move to Everton, and said,
"For me, I wanted to come here, and the main thing was to enjoy football, you know, enjoying playing every day. And I think maybe at times in the last couple of years, I’ve fallen out of love – not fallen out of love, but just didn’t enjoy football as much as I should. My family said to me at times when I was at home and stuff. That’s down to no one else; it’s down to myself," as per Manchester Evening News.
"But yeah, I absolutely love football, and I want to have that feeling again, when you wake up on a match day and you just can’t wait to get out there. That’s how I felt today and hopefully my performance showed that."
Reflecting back on his time at Man City, Grealish added,
"I absolutely loved my time at Man City. I had a great four years there and won a lot of trophies. I just felt this summer it was time to change. As soon as I spoke to the manager, David Moyes, on FaceTime I knew it was the place I wanted to come. There were a lot of reasons I wanted to come and today shows why."
"It was a great day. We wanted to make it a special one for the fans and ourselves and the football club. The stadium was bouncing. It doesn’t get much better. It was incredible. So good."
Grealish’s loan deal includes an option for Everton to make a permanent move for £50million next summer.
