Ederson has now parted ways with Manchester City and joined Super Lig club Fenerbahce on a three-year contract, worth a reported £12m, and the deal also includes an option to extend for a further year.

This news came after Man City signed Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain, and the Brazilian shot-stopper's departure concluded his illustrious eight-year tenure at Etihad.

Man City also welcomed back one of their academy graduates, James Trafford, who was Burnley's goalkeeper for the last two seasons, this summer, and the 22-year-old has featured in all three of their Premier League matches so far.

Ederson’s future at Man City has been uncertain all summer, with him being heavily linked with a move away in the transfer window and not making any appearance for the Premier League side in the 2025/26 campaign.

However, earlier, both Ederson and Man City head coach Pep Guardiola have stated on separate occasions that the 32-year-old is set to continue at the club, making his transfer quite a surprise.

Following his move to the Turkish league, Ederson shared a parting message, where he opened up about what he is leaving behind as he took his leave from Man City.

What did Ederson say after his Manchester City departure?

Ederson thanked his former coaches, teammates, and fans at Man City, heaping praise on their achievements, and said,

"I leave Manchester City incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and I am honoured to have worn the shirt so many times. Under Pep, we have won dominated the Premier League and conquered Europe. It has been amazing. I would first of all like to thank him and Xabier Mancisidor for making me the best goalkeeper I could be and teaching so much about the game," as per Manchester Evening News.

"I must also thank my team-mates. Our desire to win every game we play has been a joy to be a part of and that has made me relish every day on the training field or in the dressing room with every one of you. Finally, the fans. Thank you for making me feel at home in a city so far away from where I am from and for supporting me throughout what has been an amazing period for me and my family."

Ederson concluded by saying that he is leaving behind 'a big family' at Man City and will 'always be a fan of this special club.'

"I arrived in Manchester eight years ago full of hope, but I could not have predicted such a beautiful time together. Playing for City has been the most special time of my life and I will always be a fan of this special club. I'm going with my wife and children, but I'm leaving a big family here, Cityzens. Once a Blue, always a Blue."

During his eight-year career at Man City, Ederson registered 372 appearances, during which he maintained 168 clean sheets and won 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and one Champions League title.
