Manchester City will return to Premier League action this weekend after facing a 2-2 draw against Monaco in their second Champions League match of the 2025/26 campaign.

City currently rank seventh in the top flight with 10 points after three wins, one draw, and two defeats.

After maintaining a six-match undefeated streak across competitions, Man City are now headed to play against Brentford next in the league on October 5 at Gtech Community Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the match, Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has heaped praise on Pep Guardiola, referring to the Man City manager as the 'best in the modern era.'

What did Brentford boss Keith Andrews say about Man City's Pep Guardiola?

During his pre-match press conference, Andrews hailed Guardiola's success across clubs and leagues and said,

"I don't know many who wouldn't have taken inspiration from such an innovative manager. He (Guardiola) is probably been the best manager of the last 15 years, in the modern era; the way he's coached the game, the way he's changed the way the game is perceived and played at different clubs and in different countries," as per Brentford's official website.

Andrews further shared his take on facing Guardiola & Co. and added,

"I've come through my coaching journey and coaching courses, and his (Guardiola's) name was pretty prevalent throughout those. To say I have ultimate respect for him is an understatement. I'm aware of who I'm going up against, but I don't see it as me versus him."

"It's us as a club and our team (Brentford) against theirs (Manchester City). It's about the players and how we can prepare them to go into a really, really tough game against a top, top manager and top players who have world-class ability."

"It's about how we can nullify that and stop that, as well as cause them real problems. Having said that, it's not lost on me that I'll be in the opposite dugout to one of the greats (in Guardiola)."

Man City have won two out of the four league matches against Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium, while the Bees have secured one victory, and the remaining game ended in a draw.

With a reported four outstanding injuries in his squad, it remains to be seen if Guardiola is able to increase City's win tally at Brentford's home ground on Sunday.
