Liverpool headed into the October international break on the back of three successive losses - a career first for Arne Slot.

The Reds lost twice in Premier League action plus a UEFA Champions League slip on the road at Turkish giants Galatasaray.

A dramatic dip in form, following an unbeaten start to the 2025/26 campaign, has sharpened focus on Slot's summer expensive summer signings after the Dutchman twice broke the Premier League this summer on Florian Wirtz and  Alexander Isak.

A £100m [$133m] June move for Germany international Wirtz was the first time Liverpool had broken the '100-barrier' in the club's history and Slot followed it up with a £125m [$167m] deadline day splurge on Isak.

Isak's lack of preseason has given the Swede some breathing space early on at Anfield - with Slot indicating he will not be up to full power until November - after failing to register an EPL or UCL goal so far.

Wirtz has also failed to flag up a goal involvement [goal or assist] in league and European competition but Slot has resisted pressure to drop him from the squad.

The 22-year-old has featured in all seven league outings, with five as a starter, and Germany legend Rudi Voller  has called out his Liverpool teammates for not doing enough to help him flourish.

Amid the ongoing debate on Wirtz's form, iconic ex-Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has weighed in, backing Wirtz to shine on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp tells Liverpool fans 'don't' worry' on Florian Wirtz form

"I don't worry about Florian Wirtz because his quality is so outstanding. Of course, everything is fine, and everyone knows that. The discussion is being blown out of proportion," Klopp told RTL and n-tv a padel tournament in Mallorca [as per GOAL].

Florian Wirtz

"He's a once-in-a-century talent, and at some point he'll show that in every game again, as he did at Leverkusen. He has a stable environment at Liverpool and the club is great in moments like these.

"If anyone's worried - you don't have to! You can stop!"

Klopp's words will reinject some faith into Liverpool fans, with his hunch on Wirtz clear to see, as Slot's charges return to league action at home to arch rivals Manchester United on October 19.
