The first Merseyside derby of the 2025/26 season is set to take place at Anfield on Saturday, September 20.

Liverpool have won all four of their matches in the Premier League so far and stand on top of the table with 12 points. Everton, meanwhile, are currently sixth in the top flight with seven points after two wins, one draw, and one loss.

Everton head coach David Moyes has overseen 13 matches for the Toffees at Anfield and has yet to lead his squad to a win.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming clash, Moyes shared his thoughts on his squad facing Liverpool, while mentioning that Liverpool have 'shown some vulnerability' amid their impressive form.

What did Everton boss Moyes say about upcoming Premier League clash against Liverpool?

During his pre-match press conference, Moyes praised Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and his players, and said,

"They've brought in a lot of really good players, over recent years Jurgen Klopp's teams have been fantastic and I think Arne Slot has come in and done a fantastic job for this club since he arrived. They've gone and bought some top players, so they've looked to improve again but I think we've improved as well and I think from that point of view I have to look at us and what we're doing and I want us to keep improving and getting better if we can," as per BBC Sport.

When asked about what he told his players as they prepare to take on Liverpool and the Reds' weaknesses, Moyes replied,

"I certainly wouldn't tell you [what I'll tell my players] because that would be giving it away but your question is a good one in as much as Liverpool have shown at different times where they have been very good but other times when they have shown some vulnerability when they have conceded goals."

"We will have to try and take advantage of those moments as well. We played them last year at Anfield and lost to an offside goal and we want to try and run them close again and maybe this time things will go in our favour."

Liverpool have a good record against Everton in Premier League games at Anfield, with 18 victories in 33 matches as opposed to the latter's three wins. Moyes will be looking to bag his first win at the Reds' home ground this weekend, along with increasing the Toffees' win tally.
