Arne Slot drops a massive hint on Liverpool's transfer pursuit of Alexander Isak image

Liverpool have shown great intent this summer with their transfer dealings as they aim to defend their Premier League crown heading into the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

The Reds will kickstart their campaign on August 15 against Bournemouth with plenty of their new arrivals making their official debuts for the club.

It will be interesting to see how Arne Slot will use the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez in his system.

Before the Premier League curtain-raiser he shared how he sees Ekitike whilst also making it clear that there's a scope of signing another forward especially with Darwin Nunez's move to Al Hilal.

"I see Hugo mainly as a No 9 that could also play from the left or together with another No 9. We need to have one more attacker at least," Slot told Sky Sports

Liverpool had spent £79m to land Ekitike from Bundesliga, who had a sensational season for Eintracht Frankfurt, registering 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games across competition.

The Frenchman has already shown his goalscoring prowess at Liverpool with a goal in the FA Community Shield against Crystal Palace, which surprisingly the Reds lost on penalties.

The 23-year-old is extremely mobile and strong dribbling capabilities will allow Slot to play him on the left as an inside forward as they continue to push for a primary striker in Alexander Isak from Newcastle United

Will Liverpool manage to lure Isak out of Newcastle this summer?

The reigning Premier League champions have seen an opportunity to sign Isak and they are not looking to give up that chance so easily.

The Reds have seen a £110m bid for the Sweden international get rejected as Newcastle United are adamant that the 25-year-old is not for sale. But even if they had to, the Magpies would ask for British record transfer fee for their marksman.

Meanwhile, Isak is doing everything to leave St. James Park this summer and after running out of alternatives, there's a big chance that Newcastle may just hold onto Isak for at least another season, before taking a decision on him.

Even Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has admitted that Isak wouldn't be a part of their opening fixture against Aston Villa given he was not a part of their preseason plans.

With a few weeks left in the summer transfer window, it remains to be seen what Liverpool decides to do in this transfer saga especially after Slot's demand of signing another forward.
