Premier League rivals plan swoop for Chelsea star in January image

Chelsea had one of the most successful transfer windows in the Premier League this season, as they managed to secure most of their transfer targets.

Despite not making any additions to their squad on deadline day, the Blues had a memorable window, making a number of attacking signings, especially early in the window.

However, some of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals did not have as successful a window as they missed out on some key targets.

Manchester United, for instance, signed three attackers and a goalkeeper during the window, but missed out on adding a midfielder to the squad.

Now, it is being reported that the Red Devils might turn to Chelsea to fix the gaping hole in their midfield during the January transfer window next year.

Ruben Amorim’s team are reportedly eyeing a move for a young Chelsea star during the next transfer window.

Manchester United eye move for young Chelsea star next year

Having failed to sign a midfielder in the summer, United’s pursuit for one is set to go into the next transfer window in January.

Journalist Miguel Delaney explained in his Inside Football newsletter that United are planning a move for young Chelsea star Romeo Lavia in the winter transfer window.

He explained, “The end of the window of course means the start of speculation for January, mostly due to the business that didn’t get done.

“Manchester United still want a midfielder. Expect United to go back in for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, although some insiders have wondered whether a deal could be done for Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia.”

Since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2023, Lavia has made a name for himself as one of the most promising defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

However, his time at Stamford Bridge has been marred by injuries. More importantly, the deal could be difficult as the Blues might be unwilling to strengthen a direct rival.
