Enzo Maresca will be delighted with how his tenure as Chelsea manager is going at the moment.

Since joining the Blues from Leicester City last year, the Italian manager has guided the club to Champions League qualification and success in the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup.

More importantly, he seems to have developed a good relationship with the players.

For instance, Nicolas Jackson says he still respects Maresca despite being sent to Bayern Munich on loan.

However, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the manager at Chelsea. On more than one occasion last season it appeared that Maresca was not happy with life at Stamford Bridge.

He even considered quitting the club at one point, but has now issued a fresh update on his Chelsea future.

Enzo Maresca wants to continue at Chelsea after contemplating exit

Maresca endured some rough periods last season before they were solved by the club’s success in the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that, on more than one occasion, Maresca actually thought about quitting the club.

However, according to Phillips, the former Leicester boss is no longer thinking about leaving Stamford Bridge and wants to continue building there.

His Chelsea side have already made a really positive start to this season, dropping just two points so far.

The reassurance from Maresca comes just in time as Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is a “big admirer” of Maresca and would have loved to have hired him, according to Phillips.

However, since Maresca is under contract with Chelsea, the Greek owner has hired former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou instead.
