The transfer window has closed across Europe and Barcelona now face another demanding task that could define stability in the dressing room.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Frenkie de Jong has been at the center of discussions as executives intensify talks with his new legal representative after a prolonged delay caused by his departure from long-time agent Ali Dursun.

De Jong has been central to Hansi Flick’s system since the coach’s arrival and remains one of the few players who consistently feature in every competitive fixture.

The midfielder’s deal expires in June 2026 yet Barcelona have tabled an offer until 2028 with the possibility of stretching it to 2029 though at a significantly reduced salary, according to reports it is believed that the Dutch International could accept that in order to stay at the Catalan club.

Attention is also turning toward Eric Garcia, a player who graduated from La Masia and returned from Manchester City in 2021.

The center back’s contract also runs until 2026, and while reportedly formal talks have not yet advanced, Deco is expected to open negotiations once he completes his duties in Brazil.

Garcia reportedly enjoys full trust from Flick who sees the 23-year-old as an essential rotation option across the defensive line.

Meanwhile, according to the reports - Andreas Christensen’s case lingers without progress with no talks scheduled. The Dane remains an important part of the squad but his situation has not been prioritized.
