Former India all rounder Yuvraj Singh has been mentoring his fellow ex-Punjab teammates and young prodigies, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.

The southpaw is often seen working with batters during the off-season and improving in the required areas, also praising them on social media whenever they perform well in Indian colors.

As the young duo now prepares for the Asia Cup 2025, Yuvraj has once again given some words of wisdom for staying mentally fit to continue performing at the highest level.

Here's what the 43-year-old had to say.

Yuvraj Singh advises Gill and Abhishek to play golf during tours

While speaking at an event recently, Yuvraj revealed asking Gill and Abhishek to play golf, to mentally switch off from cricket and improve their focus.

According to Yuvraj, he made a mistake by not playing the sport during his playing days and thought the batters could benefit from it, especially during the free time in IPL.

"I have told them to play golf and I encourage them to play. It's very hard to find time, but I think the IPL is a good time for them to actually find some time and hit some balls," said Yuvraj.

"It's up to them. Now they are superstars of the game and they have to decide what's going to help them be better. If golf can be something, then they have to decide that. But I encourage all athletes to play golf. I think it is a great way to unwind and it's great for the mind," he added.

He compared the situation with the stars from Australia, England and South Africa, who take up golf at a very early age, and as a result, it helps them succeed on the cricket field as well.

Yuvraj believes playing golf can help any athlete playing a team sport do better due to the mental freshness they can potentially feel after a golf session.
