Mitchell Starc's decision to step away from T20 internationals has marked the end of a chapter in his career.
The left-arm quick who was part of Australia's 2021 T20 World Cup-winning squad, confirmed earlier this week that he would no longer play in the shortest format - choosing instead to focus on Test and ODI cricket.

While the announcement itself caught fans by surprise, it also left captain Mitchell Marsh in the dark until he stumbled upon the news on Instagram.
Mitchell Starc admits Mitchell Marsh found out through Instagram
Speaking to cricket.com.au, Starc revealed that he had only informed head coach Andrew McDonald before going public. Marsh had not been told directly and texted his teammate after seeing the announcement online.
"I did let them know, I did not ask them. I spoke to Ronnie (Andrew McDonald) and then told the two of them that I was done. Yeah, that was about it. I probably should have rang Mitchy. I felt bad because he texted me and said he found out through Instagram. So, I felt bad about that one. Sorry, Mitchy. Didn't tell the captain," said Starc.
Starc explained that at 35, he wants to prioritise red-ball cricket while still aiming to be part of Australia's ODI plans through to the 2027 World Cup. He acknowledged that stepping away from T20Is was necessary to prolong his career in the formats he values most.
"If I wasn't going to be in the frame for 2027, then I didn't want to hold up the spot. I still feel like I've got plenty to offer that ODI team. Tests have always been my priority, and they will remain my priority," he added.
