On Sept. 29, Nepal thrashed West Indies by 90 runs to seal their first-ever series win against an ICC full member team, writing a golden chapter in their history.

Coming on the back of a 19-run win on Saturday at the same venue, Nepal captain Rohit Paudel won the toss and elected to bat first.

Amid the early collapse, opener Aasif Shiekh scored 68*(47) alongside Sundeep Jora's quick-fire 63(39), stitching a 100(66) partnership for the 4th wicket to take them to 173/6 in 20 overs.

The 21-year-old medium pacer Mohammad Aadil Alam was all over the WI lineup with his 4/24 in 4 overs alongside Kushal Bhurtel's 3/16 in 2.1 overs to dismantle them at just 83 runs.

Following the win, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop lauded Nepal's efforts in times of uncertainty for the country.

While speaking to Paudel at the post-match presentation, Bishop emphasized on the importance of the win for Nepal amid the recent protests causing unrest in the country.

Paudel, at 23 has already led Nepal in 95 international matches across formats, winning 51 and losing 37. He was also instrumental in their T20 World Cup 2024 qualification.

"I don't usually do this. But I know that the country needs this, the team needs this. Rohit! very very well done. For a young man you are an extremely good leader," said Bishop.

Up next, Nepal will face the Caribbeans on Tuesday in their final T20I and look to whitewash them in the series.

After missing out on the Asia Cup, Nepal will travel to Oman in October to play the T20 World Cup 2026 qualifiers with 3 spots on the line and 9 teams participating in the competition.
