Arshdeep has emerged as one of India's key performers in the shortest format. He is known for his elite skills with both the new ball and at the death.
The left-arm pacer from Punjab also played a crucial role in India's second T20 World Cup title win in 2024.
What did Arshdeep Singh say about his family's involvement in cricket?
In a recent conversation at Oaktree Sports, Arshdeep shed light on how his family has been his biggest critic. The pacer hilariously mentioned how, after every game, he receives a lot of criticism and advice from his parents and sister.
"My father doesn't say much after a good game. He plays corporate games on Saturday and Sunday. After his games, he would send me his stats and ask me to bowl better than him," Arshdeep said.
The Punjab pacer impressed for India in the recent Asia Cup triumph despite the limited opportunities. His penultimate over against Sri Lanka, followed by the super over, which he bowled against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours game, was one of the highlights in the tournament.
"Everyone in the home is my bowling coach. I now get fewer messages from my coaches and more from home. After the game, my father, mother, and even my sister would text...'tu ne kyu nai yorker daali', and I would be like You should tell me beforehand, I would plan and go," Arshdeep added with a smile.
Arshdeep's next big assignment is the T20I series against Australia, starting later this month. India will play five T20Is against the in-form Aussies, providing the Men In Blue with the perfect preparation ahead of the big T20 World Cup at home in 2026.
