Yashasvi Jaiswal's brilliant innings came to a painful end on Day 2 of the second India vs West Indies Test after a mix-up with captain Shubman Gill. The young opener, who looked set for another double hundred, was run out for 175.

His dismissal not only halted India's charge but also left fans stunned at how such a needless error cost him a milestone. The moment turned tense on the field, with Jaiswal visibly frustrated as he walked back shaking his head.

Costly mix-up between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal

The incident unfolded early on Day 2, during the 92nd over of India's first innings. Jaiswal drove a full delivery from Jayden Seales towards mid-off and immediately set off for a single.

Gill hesitated and then refused the run, leaving Jaiswal stranded halfway down the pitch. By the time he turned back, it was too late - Tevin Imlach collected the throw from Tagenarine Chanderpaul and broke the stumps cleanly.

Jaiswal's expression said it all. He appeared visibly upset with Gill, seemingly gesturing that it was his call.

His dismissal ended a masterful knock of 175 off 258 balls, with 22 fours. The runout overshadowed what was otherwise another magnificent display from the 23-year-old.

On Day 1, he had notched up his seventh Test hundred - his third on home soil. Since his debut, no opener in world cricket has scored more Test centuries than Jaiswal.

His seven hundreds have come in just 48 innings, two fewer than South African great Graeme Smith managed at the same stage. Jaiswal's rapid rise continues to mark him as India's next big Test star.
