As hosts, India sealed their automatic qualification for the tournament alongside five other top teams including the defending champions Australia and England, among others.
Two teams have reached the tournament from the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament earlier in the summer — the West Indies missed out on the qualification on the virtue of net-run rate as Bangladesh progressed with a margin of 0.013.

What is the format of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025?
The ICC Women's ODI World Cup will be played in a round-robin format, followed by semi-finals and a final.
Every team will face each of the other seven teams once in the league phase. The four best-performing teams on the points table at the end of the first stage of the tournament will proceed to face off in the semi-final.

In the knockout stage, the team finishing at the top of the table will face the fourth-placed team, and the second-placed team will face the third-placed team to determine the two finalists.
What are the rules for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup?
The tournament will be played under the same rules and regulations listed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
- Teams will be awarded 2 points for every win, no points for a loss and a single point in the matches ending without a result.
- In case multiple teams finish with the same number of points after the scheduled seven matches in the league phase, the team with a better net run-rate will finish above the other.
- All tied matches will be decided in super overs, until we get a result.
