He was named as a backup opener in India's latest ODI squad, which will tour Australia for three ODIs starting October 19, behind captain Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma.

'Win the World Cup for India'- Yashasvi Jaiswal on his dream
While discussing a variety of topics on Raj Shamani's Figuring Out podcast, the batter openly spoke about his goal to lift the ODI World Cup, with the next coming up in 2027 in South Africa.
"Dream as an individual is, I want to win the championship — the World Cup for my team and myself. That is my only dream right now. The only focus," Jaiswal told.
Although Shubman Gill has already cemented his spot at the top alongside the former captain Rohit Sharma, like the World Cup 2023, Jaiswal is right next in line to step in whenever the team asks him to.
