India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja misses out on the Australia tour after being left out of the ODI and T20I squads.
BCCI announced squads for both formats on Saturday, October 4, as Shubman Gill has been named the ODI captain, although Rohit Sharma made it to the team. Virat Kohli has also been included in the ODI squad.
Gill started off his captaincy career on a strong note, levelling the Test series in England, where he amassed more than 750 runs in 10 innings. With the ODI World Cup in just 2 years, the young man will have a crucial role to play in preparing the side for the crucial event.

While most of the selections were on expected lines, India's red-ball vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped from the ODI squad.
Jadeja played a key role in the Champions Trophy victory earlier this year, but has been left out of the squad due to more pace-friendly conditions. India opted not to go with two left-arm spinners, preferring Axar Patel over him for the series.

Why Ravindra Jadeja was dropped from India's squad
After playing a key role in India lifting the Asia Cup 2025 title in Dubai, Jadeja has now been left out of both T20I and ODI teams.
Speaking to reporters, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar explained: "Look, at the moment, taking two left-arm spinners to Australia is not possible. He (Jadeja) is clearly in the scheme of things, given how good he is, but there will be some competition for places. It's not that he’s out of contention. Of course, he was in the Champions Trophy squad because we took those extra spinners due to the conditions there.
"At the moment, we can only carry one and maintain balance in the team with Washington and Kuldeep as well, and I don't think we'll need more than that in Australia. He’s clearly in the scheme of things because of how good he is and what he offers us as a batter and a bowler, but particularly in the field as well. So, yeah, it’s just a three-match, short series. You can’t accommodate everyone, and unfortunately, at the moment, he’s missing out, but it’s nothing more than that."
