Vidarbha's batting sensation Danish Malewar etched his name in Indian domestic cricket history once again. On August 29, he slammed a double century on his Duleep Trophy debut, while representing the Central Zone against the North East Zone.
After being asked to bat first at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Malewar joined Aryan Juyal at the crease in the third over after Ayush Pandey was dismissed for 3(10).
He added 139(204) with Juyal for the second wicket, followed by a 199(172) run stand with captain Rajat Patidar and a 94(77) partnership with his association teammate Yash Rathod.

Before going out retired at 203(222), the batter became the first player from Vidarbha to score a double-century on his Duleep Trophy debut.
In his marathon knock, he scored a whopping 36 fours and a solitary six to put his team on the driver's seat.

Danish Malewar is a 21-year-old cricketer who hails from Nagpur in Vidarbha. He is coming off a strong debut Ranji Trophy season with 783 runs to his name in 15 innings at an average of 52.20.

In Vidarbha's title-winning Ranji Trophy season, the batter scored 75 and 79 in the quarter-final and semi-final against Tamil Nadu and Mumbai, respectively, before his match-winning 153 and 73 in the final against Kerala.
How did Danish Malewar perform in the Vidarbha T20 League?
Malewar also showed his T20 batting prowess in the Vidarbha Pro T20 League, where he scored 318 runs in 6 matches at a strike rate of 161.42 and an average of 79.5.
His VTPL heroics included a 120*(55) in a 201-run chase for his team, Bharat Rangers. The Central Zone selectors went on to reward him for his consistency, and he was picked in the Duleep Trophy squad.
