India's five-wicket victory over Pakistan on Sunday, Sept. 28, sealed their ninth Asia Cup triumph, three more than the second-best Sri Lanka.

However, two days later India's wait to receive their winners' medals and the trophy continues after they were denied the chance of celebrating the win at the venue for refusing to be presented by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chair Mohsin Naqvi.

As the tensions between India and ACC continue well after the tournament, TSN explores when India will receive their trophy and medals.

Why did India not get the Asia Cup Trophy?

India went into the Asia Cup with strained relations with Pakistan after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, leading to a war-like situation between the armies of the two countries.

In all three encounters of the tournament, the Indian team refused handshakes with Pakistan at the toss and after the matches, while Pakistan threatened to withdraw from the tournament.

As the tensions grew ahead of the final, India decided not to receive the trophy from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief and the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi.

After a delayed presentation ceremony, the trophy was taken off the stage, and the Indian team, alongside the support staff, celebrated the win without the trophy.

When will Mohsin Naqvi give India the Asia Cup Trophy?

As per the latest reports, in what looks like a one-sided ego tussle, as India refuses to budge under any circumstances, Naqvi has shown his willingness to give the trophy to the winning captain, given that the organizers arrange an award ceremony for the same.

Following the final, Naqvi notably quoted the Indian Prime Minister on Twitter to write about the tensions between the nations to further agitate the situation, making it even more unlikely for India to accept his condition.
