India's upcoming tour of Australia is already stirring emotions, not just for the cricket but for what it could represent - the final trip Down Under for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

The two senior batsmen are set to feature in the three-match ODI series starting in Perth on Sunday, marking their return to international cricket since lifting the Champions Trophy earlier this year.

As anticipation builds, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson believes this tour will be extra special for both the players and the fans.

Shane Watson says Australian fans will celebrate Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in IND vs AUS ODIs

Speaking on JioHotstar, Shane Watson said he expects Australian crowds to show genuine admiration for the Indian greats despite years of fierce on-field rivalry.

He acknowledged Kohli's history of dominating Australian bowlers but noted that fans Down Under have always respected world-class players.

“This could be Rohit and Virat's last trip Down Under, and I believe the Australian cricket-loving public will show how much they adore them. There's no doubt Virat's been one of Australia's biggest foes, but people here appreciate greatness.”

“Rohit's a leader and performer, and the Australian public respects the very best - which these two certainly are,” Watson said.

Watson backs Australia to test India's unbeaten streak

Under head coach Gautam Gambhir, India have gone unbeaten in ODIs this year - a flawless 8-0 record. Watson credited Gambhir's leadership and the team's fearless style but predicted that Australia would push them hard on home soil.

"India's dominance comes from their talent and GG's leadership. The players are free and fearless. But if any team can break that run, it's Australia - they will just need to be at their absolute best," Watson concluded.

As India gear up for the ODIs, all eyes will be on Kohli and Rohit - not just for their performances, but for what could be their farewell chapter in Australian conditions.
