With the conclusion of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, the Indian team has been on a break. Their next assignment is the Asia Cup which is scheduled to start on September 9.
While some players have already returned to action with the Duleep Trophy and the Buchi Babu invitational trophy, others are preparing for the Asia Cup or the upcoming ODI series against Australia.
During this time, fitness levels of some established stars including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, were assessed at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
However, former India captain Virat Kohli was a notable absentee during the tests, raising questions over his availability and fitness ahead of the Australia tour.

Did Virat Kohli appear for the Yo-Yo Test?
According to the Hindustan Times, the Board of Control for Cricket in India made a special arrangement for Kohli to undergo his mandatory fitness tests in London.
It is learnt that this could have been a one-off permission after Kohli's prior request. The decision to allow him to appear in tests outside the COE might raise some eyebrows but there has been no official word from the BCCI regarding the matter.

It remains to be seen how likely it is that other players who are overseas due to prior commitments will be allowed to do the same in the future.
The 36-year-old is reported to be available for selection for the upcoming Australia A tour of India in September to get in the groove ahead of touring down under.

On August 29, the first phase of fitness evaluations involved big names in Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sudnar Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Sanju Samson
Prasidh Krishna, Jitesh Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, and Rinku Singh also underwent the test.

The second phase of tests will include players who are currently in rehab or in the return-to-play stage, such as KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and Nitish Reddy.
